IN THIS LESSON

Take Pinterest with a grain of salt, please!

Yes, I can totally use your Pinterest photo for inspiration (like the first one shown), but you need to be aware of the aspects of it that aren’t applicable to real people. We all know by now that so much of social media includes doctored images and unrealistic standards. With that being said, I think it is a great tool for you to explore different styles and find inspiration for your wedding look. Please don’t be afraid to ask me questions if you aren’t sure about something! I’ll keep this short, but keep a few other things in mind:

  • Try to look for women who have a similar face shape, eye shape, skin tone, hair volume, hair texture and hair length as you do. This is not always possible as there are some styles severely underrepresented in the media, but in general, stick to your unique characteristics. A braid on a balayage NEVER looks the same as it does on solid color hair. A style on someone with 20” extensions is just not going to look the same on someone with a bob. Styles on hooded eyes look different than they do on round! There is something for everyone, just make sure you have an open mind.

  • Remember that texture is present on every single person in the real world. We are adding product to your skin, not taking away aspects of your skin! Under eyes have bags and lines, and foreheads have wrinkles. We can color correct, but we can’t flatten pimples. I promise we can create a look that is absolutely stunning despite any perfectly normal flaws you might have.

  • Keep the weather in mind!!! If your wedding is going to be outdoors in the middle of an Arkansas July, you might want to consider an updo instead of those Hollywood waves. Hairspray and anti-frizz products don’t always have the power to combat a 90° heat index and a sweaty back for hours on end.
